DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan Baseball team made a rally in the nightcap but came up short as the Hawks dropped the twinbill against Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Friday.

Geomar Santana paced the Hawks with four hits and three RBI on the day. Jackson Dunlap picked up three hits and three RBI. Ty Johnson collected three hits, while Warren Bailey, Tyler West and Rowan Hudson picked up two hits each.
Christian Bartholomew drew four walks in the doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 2, Erskine 13
Erskine would score four runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump out to a 4-0 advantage.
Chowan would load the bases in the third inning as Aidan Feather, Warren Bailey, and Tyler West picked up base hits in the inning.
The Fleet would add a pair of runs in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth to lead 7-0.
Rowan Hudson looked to spark a rally in the seventh inning with a double to left center. Geomar Santana drew a walk before an error loaded the bases. A double play would end the threat.
Erskine extended their lead to 13-0 in the bottom of the seventh on three hits.
Christian Bartholomew started a rally in the eighth drawing a full-count walk. Ty Johnson picked up a single before Bartholomew scored on a wild pitch. Rowan Hudson doubled home Johnson to cut the deficit to 13-2.
Game Two: Chowan 8, Erskine 10
Chowan opened the scoring in game two with a first inning rally. Christian Bartholomew drew a full-count walk before Geomar Santana singled and stole second. Jackson Dunlap plated a run with a base hit before Warren Bailey doubled home a pair to left center. Tyler West hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead.
Erskine cut into the deficit in the bottom of the inning with a two-run home run. A RBI groundout in the bottom of the second evened the score at 3-all. The Fleet used a five run third inning to take an 8-3 lead.
The Hawks answered in the top of the fourth inning with a five run frame. Patrick Krack reached on an infield single followed by a base hit by Ty Johnson and a walk by Caleb Karie to load the bases. Christian Bartholomew drew a walk to plate a run before Geomar Santana greeted the new pitcher with a double down the left field line to plate a pair. Jackson Dunlap singled to right to plate two and evened the score at 8-all. A pair of strikeouts ended the rally.
Erskine regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run. The Fleet added a run in the sixth inning to lead 10-8.
