MURFREESBORO, N.C. – An early lead for the Chowan Baseball team was not enough to hold off Mount Olive in the rubber match of the Conference Carolinas series on Sunday morning.

Geomar Santana went 2-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a double. Ty Johnson collected two hits.
Bradley Wilbourne went 5.0 innings allowing two unearned runs in a no decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a pair of walks in the first inning, the Trojans used a wild pitch and an error to lead 2-0.
Chowan would answer in the bottom of the first as Christian Bartholomew hit a single up the middle and stole second. Geomar Santana singled to right before a wild pitch score Bartholomew. A fielder's choice and an error in the inning allowed the second run to score to even the contest at 2-all.
Geomar Santana opened up the third inning with a double to right center. An error on a ground ball allowed Santana to score. Tyler West would pick up a triple to right center to plate a run before West scored on Jackson Dunlap's single to right, 5-2.
Christian Bartholomew and Carrington Williams drew a walk to lead off the sixth inning. A throwing error on a ground ball allowed the Hawks to extend their lead to 6-2.
UMO cut the deficit to 6-4 in the seventh with a home run and an error. The Trojans took the lead in the eighth plating five runs off four hits to lead 9-6.
Mount Olive tacked on four runs in the ninth off two hits and an error to push the lead to 13-6.
Caleb Karie hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth for the final run of the contest.
