MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team picked up a split in the opening doubleheader of the series against nationally-ranked Mount Olive behind a pair of long balls by Rowan Hudson in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.

Rowan Hudson paced the attack with three hits including a pair of three-run home runs. Warren Bailey went 3-5 at the plate with three walks. Tyler West and Ty Johnson picked up three hits each.
Angel Diaz picked up the win in relief of game one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 12, Mount Olive 9
Rowan Hudson would put the Hawks on the board in the bottom of the second as Warren Bailey and Tyler West picked up singles. Hudson would deliver a three-run home run to right field to lead 3-0.
Mount Olive would rally in the third inning plating four runs off four hits to take a 4-3 lead. UMO pushed their lead to 6-3 in the fourth with a pair of runs off two hits and error.
Chowan would chip away in the bottom of the seventh as Carrington Williams sparked a rally with a one-out single up the middle. Warren Bailey drew a walk before a double steal attempt and an error allowed a run to score. Tyler West doubled home Bailey to cut the deficit to 6-5.
The Hawks would take the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning as Caleb Karie reached on an error and Christian Bartholomew drew a walk. Geomar Santana was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A passed ball allowed a run to score before Warren Bailey drew a walk as another run scored on a wild pitch. Tyler West drew a walk to load the bases before an infield single and an error plated two more runs. Rowan Hudson put the Hawks on top 12-6 with another three-run home run.
The Trojans tried to rally in the ninth scoring three runs off five hits before a fly out ended the contest.
Game Two: Chowan 1, Mount Olive 9
Chowan scored their only run of the contest in the bottom of the first inning as Geomar Santana singled and stole second. Warren Bailey hit a single up the middle to put the Hawks on the board 1-0.
Mount Olive plated three in the fourth and a run in the fifth to lead 4-1. The Trojans used two errors in the sixth to push their lead to 7-1. A home run in the seventh extended the lead to 9-1.
