Chowan Takes Down Fleet In Low Scoring Affair

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team picked up a road win against Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Destiny Robinson paced the Hawks with 18 points on 6-7 shooting from the floor.  Imani Hickman collected a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Yasmine Brown added seven points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Destiny Robinson and Imani Hickman helped the Hawks jump out to an early 4-0 advantage as Robinson picked up a pair from the stripe and Hickman added a layup in transition.  Robinson added a pair of layups to extend the lead to 8-5 before Hickman picked up the final three points in the quarter to knot the score at 11-all.

Second Quarter:

Destiny Robinson sparked a 7-0 run to start the frame as Robinson added a layup.  Tyaysia Sharpe knocked down a triple and Keibra Hopkins added a jumper to lead 18-11.  Following a basket by Erskine, Robinson added a pair from the stripe and Imani Hickman connected from deep to lead 23-14.

Kashara Simpson and Imani Hickman added baskets to stretch the lead to double-figures before Erskine cut into the deficit before the half, 27-19.

Third Quarter:

Imani Hickman went 1-2 from the stripe before Yasmine Brown added a layup.  Destiny Robinson, Hickman, and Jayah King-Johnson scored to push the lead back to double-figures, 36-23.  Chowan picked up points at the stripe as Brown and King-Johnson scored from the floor to lead 43-25.

Fourth Quarter:

Destiny Robinson picked up the first four points in the frame for the Hawks as the scoring slowed.  Jayah King-Johnson added a layup before Yasmine Brown tallied a pair from the stripe to finish off the contest.

UP NEXT

Chowan returns home to take on Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday, February 8.  Tip-off is slated for 5pm.
