Chowan Drops Overtime Contest To Mountain Lions, 16-15

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team rallied to even the score with 39 seconds in regulation before falling in overtime, 16-15, to Young Harris on Tuesday afternoon at home.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Jaxon Martin paced the offense with six goals and two assists.  Eric George notched four goals and three assists.

Noah Jalal collected three goals and two assists, while Erik Dozzi scored two goals with three assists.

Alec Rodopoulos tallied 16 saves in goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Noah Jalal found Jaxon Martin for the opening goal for the Hawks before Rylan Downey found the back of the net to put the Hawks up 2-1.

Eric George found Jaxon Martin and Noah Jalal found George to trade goals with Young Harris to lead 4-3 at the quarter break.

Second Quarter:

Noah Jalal scored an unassisted goal before YHC took a 6-5 lead with a two goal rally.  Jaxon Martin found Erik Dozzi to even the score at 6-all.

Late in the frame, YHC went on the counter-attack and scored as time expired to lead 7-6 at the intermission.

Third Quarter:

The Mountain Lions scored the opening goal of the half before the Hawks countered with a four goal swing.  Jaxon Martin scored a man-up goal followed by a goal by Noah Jalal and Eric George before Martin scored another man-up goal to lead 10-8.

YHC scored five unanswered goals to lead 13-10.

Fourth Quarter:

YHC pushed their lead to 14-10 before Eric George found Jaxon Martin for the goal.  Noah Jalal started a four-goal run to even the score.  Martin would score a man-up goal in between a pair of man-up goals by Eric George including a goal with 37.7 remaining.

Overtime:

Young Harris would score the sudden victory goal just 1:27 into the overtime period for the 16-15 victory.

UP NEXT

Chowan continues their home stand on Sunday, March 5 against Wheeling.  Opening face-off is slated for 12pm.
