Five More Podiums For Chowan Swimming On Day Three Of Championships

KINGSPORT, TENN. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Swimming programs posted four individual All-Conference selections and one All-Conference relay on day three of the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships on Thursday.

THE BASICS

LOCATION | Kingsport, Tenn. (Kingsport Aquatic Center)

INSIDE THE LANES

Ashley Mayes, Andres Martijena and Jan Gastal earned Second Team All-Conference selections.  Aleksei Belolipetskii added a Third Team All-Conference selection.

The men's 400 Medley Relay secured a Third Team All-Conference selection and a school record in the event.

FINALS

100 Fly:

Ashley Mayes swam to a Second Team All-Conference selection with a time of 57.51.  David Clark finished sixth in the 'B' Final with a time of 54.18.

200 Free:

Jan Gastal would swim to a Second Team All-Conference selection with a school record time of 1:40.26.  The time also made the NCAA 'B' Standard Cut.

In the 'B' Final, Robert Liz Cabrera would post the top time with a time of 1:41.41.  Brayden Conboy would improve on his personal best time with a time of 2:17.14.

Aislinn Kessinger finished fifth in the 'B' Final with a time of 2:03.78.

100 Breast:

Andres Martijena and Alexsei Belolipetskii finished second and third respectively with NCAA 'B' Standard cut times and All-Conference selections.  Martijena finished with an improved school record time of 53.46.  Belolipetskii posted the second fastest time in program history with a time of 55.04.  Fabrizio Infante finished sixth overall with a time of 57.41.

Marshall Stevens finished seventh in the 'B' Final with a time of 1:01.88.

Hiba Laknit would post the second fastest time in program history with a seventh place finish overall and a time of 1:07.08.

100 Back:

Andrew Simmons finished fourth in the 'B' Final with the fifth fastest time in program history with a time of 58.27.  Erica Mock finished sixth in the 'B' Final with a time of 1:01.86.

400 Medley Relay:

The men finished with a Third Team All-Conference selection with a school record time of 3:20.25 as Jan Gastal, Andres Martijena, Aleksei Belolipetskii, and Fabrizio Infante swam for the Hawks.

The women finished seventh overall with a time of 4:04.76.  Erica Mock, Hiba Laknit, Ashley Mayes, and Aislinn Kessinger swam for the Hawks.

PRELIMS

100 Fly:

Ashley Mayes would post a time of 58.15 to qualify for the finals.  David Clark finished with a time of 54.36.

200 Free:

Jan Gastal finished just off his school record time in the event with a time of 1:41.55.  Robert Liz Cabrera posted the second fastest time in program history with a time of 1:43.88.  Brayden Conboy recorded a personal best time of 2:19.33.

Aislinn Kessinger posted the sixth best time in program history with a time of 2:02.86.  Atar Idrissi finished with a time of 2:09.13.

100 Breast:

Andres Martijena posted a time of 55.11, while Aleksei Belolipetskii posted the second fastest time in program history with a time of 55.85.  Fabrizio Infante posted a personal best time of 57.22, third best in program history.  Marshall Stevens finished with a time of 1:01.37.

Hiba Laknit posted a personal best time of 1:07.84.  Arriel Quant finished with a time of 1:20.86.

100 Back:

Erica Mock finished with a time of 1:01.14, while Atar Idrissi finished with a time of 1:08.20.  Andrew Simmons posted a time of 58.59.

UP NEXT

Chowan will see the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and 1650 Free in the prelims setting up the Final day of the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships on Saturday at 10am.
