AUGUSTA, GA. – The Chowan Softball team battled back in the nightcap before falling to Augusta in a non-conference doubleheader on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

Kira Soodek would pick up two hits including a double with three RBI in the night cap.
Peyton Rockwell added two hits with three runs scored on the day. Mckenzie Misenheimer added two hits and two RBI in the doubleheader. Serena Riley added a RBI double in game one.
Haileigh Boone took the tough loss in extra innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 3, Augusta 11 – Five innings
Chowan would strike first in the top of the first inning as Mckenzie Misenheimer would reach after being hit by a pitch. Serena Riley would deliver a two-out RBI double down the right field line to plate Misenheimer and put the Hawks up 1-0.
Augusta would get a base runner on to start the bottom of the first, but Kira Soodek would throw out the runner on a stolen base attempt. The Jaguars picked up four hits in the inning but tallied one run to even the score at 1-all.
Haleigh Reid picked up a single and Caston Garland drew a walk to start off the second inning. Peyton Rockwell singled to left field to load the bases with two outs after back-to-back fielder's choices. The Hawks would leave the bases loaded.
The Jaguars answered in the second with a solo home run to lead 2-1. Augusta added to their lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run, 4-1.
Chowan looked to rally in the top of the fourth inning as Lindsey Richter picked up a single to right field. Peyton Rockwell reached and stole second. Mckenzie Misenheimer doubled to left to plate a pair and cut the deficit to 4-3.
Augusta countered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to stretch their advantage to 8-3.
Tessa Nicholson would reach on a three base error in the fifth inning but would be left stranded.
The Jaguars finished off the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning for the run-rule victory, 11-3.
Game Two: Chowan 3, Augusta 4 – Eight innings
Peyton Rockwell started off the second game with a walk before Mckenzie Misenheimer was hit by a pitch. Kira Soodek singled up the middle to plate Rockwell for a 1-0 lead. A ground ball and a fly out would end the threat.
Augusta used an error on an attempted steal to plate a run in the bottom of the first inning to even the score at 1-all.
Lindsey Richter and Haleigh Reid picked up hits in the fourth inning but would be left stranded in scoring position.
The Jaguars would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as the third batter of the inning bested the Chowan starting pitcher in a long at-bat to score a run. Augusta would lead 3-1 at the end of the inning.
Peyton Rockwell produced a bloop single over the second baseman's head in the fifth inning. Mckenzie Misenheimer added a single and Kira Soodek doubled to left to plate the pair to even the score at 3-all.
Haileigh Boone worked out of a jam in the bottom of the fifth with a runner at third to force two pop-ups to end the threat.
Neither side was able to push across the winning run as the two teams would head to extra innings with the score knotted up at 3-all.
In the top of the eighth, Mckenzie Misenheimer would be moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kira Soodek. A double play would end the threat.
Augusta moved the runner over to third and would produce a sacrifice fly for the walk-off victory, 4-3.

Chowan hits the road to take on Wingate and Limestone in non-conference action on Saturday and Sunday, February 18-19. First pitch against Wingate is slated for 12pm.
