MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball hit two buzzer beaters to send the game to extra time but could not finish the job as the Hawks gave nationally-ranked Belmont Abbey all they could handle in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.

Aniah Patterson led the Hawks with 15 points, while Yasmine Brown and Destiny Robinson added 11 points each. Keibra Hopkins posted 10 points. Robinson collected her 11th double-double of the season with 14 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Regulation:
The first three quarters saw a pair of teams battle against each other as the Hawks led 13-10 at the end of the first quarter and 30-24 at half time. Chowan would lead by double-digits in the third before Belmont Abbey rallied. Chowan would lead 45-37 at the end of the third quarter.
With 20 seconds remaining in regulation and down 54-51, Yasmine Brown went 1-2 from the line and grabbed her own miss but was unable to get two tip-in attempts to fall. Belmont Abbey would go 1-2 from the line at the other end.
Tyaysia Sharpe went 1-2 from the line prior to Destiny Robinson putting the miss back to send the contest to overtime, 55-all.
Overtime:
Belmont Abbey maintained a one possession lead for most of the first overtime period. Yasmine Brown would send the contest to a second overtime hitting a wing three-pointer from the left side with less than four seconds remaining.
The Crusaders would start the second overtime period on a 10-0 run to take control of the contest. Yasmine Brown scored the only three points in the frame.
