PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team had a pair of chances that would not fall as the Hawks fell to Virginia State 73-71 in the UNCP Give Thanks Tournament on Sunday.

Preston Le Gassick missed a game-tying three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining. Daylan Askew grabbed the offensive rebound and went 1-2 from the line before RJ Wilson missed the tip-in as time expired.
After starting the season 2-0, the Hawks have dropped their last three contests by a combined 11 points.
Daylan Askew posted his third 20-plus point outing with 23 points. Preston Le Gassick chipped in with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
RJ Wilson added 10 points and six rebounds. Cheick Traore contributed with nine points and eight rebounds.
Chowan went 6-25 from deep while shooting 13-20 from the stripe.

Chowan makes the return trip to Raleigh to take on St. Augustine's on Tuesday, November 28. Tip-off is slated for 7pm. The Falcons defeated the Hawks 87-82 in double overtime on November 15.
