BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team placed four players in double-figures as the Hawks blowout Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Aniah Patterson led the Hawks with 16 points. Meara Carter posted a career-high 12 points. Destiny Robinson and Jayah King-Johnson chipped in with 11 points each.
Chowan forced 29 turnovers while limiting their own to only 10 turnovers. The Hawks scored 29 points off turnovers and went 21-28 from the stripe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Aniah Patterson started the contest with a wing three-pointer. Destiny Robinson added the old-fashioned three point play before Keibra Hopkins knocked down a triple from the right corner to lead 9-2. Patterson hit a pull-up jumper from the left wing to push the advantage to 12-4.
Jayah King-Johnson tallied a pair from the stripe before Lees-McRae scored five quick points to cut the deficit to 14-11. Keibra Hopkins ended the run with a pull-up jumper and a pair from the stripe. Imani Hickman posted a pair from the stripe before Sydney Roberts added a pair from the stripe to lead 22-15.
Second Quarter:
Chowan continued their run as Destiny Robinson started the scoring with a pair from the stripe. Imani Hickman added a three-point play and Sydney Roberts posted a pair from the stripe. Robinson connected from the floor with a layup to stretch the advantage to 31-15. Kashara Simpson went 1-2 from the stripe prior to a layup by Aniah Patterson.
LMC connected from the floor for the first time in the frame at the 4:55 mark, but was countered with a layup by Meara Carter. Despite the 2:27 scoreless streak by the Hawks, LMC was unable to take advantage as Jayah King-Johnson and Sydney Roberts picked up a point at the stripe to maintain the lead, 38-20.
Chowan led 38-22 at the half.
Third Quarter:
Aniah Patterson started off the second half the same way she started the game with a three-pointer. Patterson would go on to score a pair of transition layups to stretch the lead to 46-22. Jayah King-Johnson notched a pair from the stripe before Demetria Bland used a transition layup after a steal.
After the media timeout, Jayah King-Johnson posted a putback basket and Imani Hickman added a free throw. King-Johnson added a layup to push the lead to 57-25. Meara Carter notched a layup before the end of the quarter, 59-28.
Fourth Quarter:
Sydney Roberts, Meara Carter, and Destiny Robinson collected points to push the advantage forward with a run, 69-30. Carter collected another basket as Jayah King-Johnson and Keibra Hopkins pushed the advantage to 75-33.
Demetria Bland knocked down a triple before LMC connected from the floor. Meara Carter scored a putback basket as the Hawks took the victory, 80-42.
