ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team was unable to capitalize on the miscues by Elizabeth City State in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening on the road.

Anixa Rosa-Martinez paced the Hawks with seven kills and eight digs. Kolleen Priest added six kills.
Diana Rodriguez notched 16 digs, while Alexa Woolson collected 12 assists and six digs.
Elizabeth City State posted 15 service errors while registering 48 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the opening three points by the Vikings, Chowan scored the next five points as Alexa Woolson, Brianna Moye, Kolleen Priest, and Diana Rodriguez notched a kill each. The two teams traded points until the score evened at 11-all.
ECSU scored five of the next six points to take a 16-12 lead. The Hawks would receive four of the final five points in the set off service errors by the Vikings as Sydney Ginaitt notched a kill. ECSU finished the set off with a 25-16 victory.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Kolleen Priest notched a pair of kills to start the second set along with an ace by Rosa-Martinez. Rosa-Martinez added a pair of kills to push the Hawk lead to 10-4. The Vikings continued their attack to even the score at 16-all. Rosa-Martinez and Priest posted a kill each during the offensive sputter.
The Vikings rallied to take the set 25-20 as Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Chloe Putnam notched a kill in the final points of the set.
In the final set, both teams traded points throughout the set as Alexa Woolson gave the Hawks the largest lead in the set at 11-8 with a service ace. The score would be tied 16 times in the set before the Vikings found the final three points of the set to take the match.
UP NEXT
Chowan will hit the road to open up Conference Carolinas play on Friday and Saturday as the Hawks travel to North Greenville and Belmont Abbey. The Hawks will also compete against Wingate in a non-conference match on Saturday in a neutral site match.
