SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.VA. – The Chowan Volleyball team secured their second straight victory with a 3-1 win over Dominican in the final match of the Ram Rumble on the road on Saturday.

Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Alexa Woolson notched their first double-doubles of the season. Rosa-Martinez posted a team-high 13 kills and 15 digs. Woolson posted 17 assists and 10 digs.
Diana Rodriquez paced the defense with 18 digs. Morgan Tucker collected 17 assists. Kolleen Priest notched a career-high eight kills. Haydon Ahlers chipped in with seven kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kolleen Priest posted the opening two kills as the Hawks jumped out to an early 10-4 lead. Dominican responded with a run to take the lead 12-11 before a pair of kills by Brianna Moye and Anixa Rosa-Martinez pushed the Hawk advantage to 19-12.
Dominican tried to close the gap prior to Nia Baskin finishing off the set with a kill to give the Hawks the 25-20 opening set victory.
Both teams battled back-and-forth in the second set as the Hawks posted four straight points to take a 22-21 lead as Haydon Ahlers and Madison Hall posted a kill each. Hall and Kolleen Priest notched a kill before the Chargers evened up the match with a 26-24 set two victory.
After a Diana Rodriguez service ace, Kolleen Priest, Anixa Rosa-Martinez, and Haydon Ahlers notched a kill to put the Hawks up 8-5 early. Ahlers and Madison Hall extended the lead to 15-8 with a kill along with a block by Priest and Nia Baskin.
The Hawks finished off the set as Kolleen Priest, Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Nia Baskin collected a kill for the 25-15 set win.
After falling behind 4-0 early, Chowan rallied to even the score at 7-all. Anixa Rosa-Martinez, Nyah Powers, and Kolleen Priest added a kill each during the run. Trailing 10-7, the Hawks scored eight of the next nine points to take a 15-11 advantage and force a timeout. Rosa-Martinez collected three kills during the run along with a kill by Haydon Ahlers and Morgan Tucker.
The Chargers trimmed the deficit to 23-21 prior to Nia Baskin finishing off the match with a kill.

Chowan will look to continue the momentum as the Hawks travel to Petersburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia State Trojan Classic on September 2-3.
