MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Soccer program, ranked 14th in the NCAA preseason poll, are scheduled to take on Mars Hill in a neutral site contest on Thursday in the opening day of the Lees-McRae Shope Classic in Banner Elk, N.C.

MEN'S SOCCER NOTES

Chowan is looking to build off their most successful season in program history as the Hawks posted a 13-4-2 overall record, captured their first-ever Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship, and capped it off with a NCAA DII Sweet 16 run.

The Hawks have some big holes to fill with the departure of Toby Sims (pro contract, graduation) and Timo De Graff (graduation) in the back-line.  D2CCA All-American, Harri Lovett, returns after leading the Conference Carolinas in assists with 14.

Charlie Farrar will look to pick up where he left off from the 2021 season allowing 0.93 goals per game and a 70.0% save percentage including the save that allowed the Hawks to advance to the Sweet 16.

CAGING THE LIONS

Mars Hill is coming off an 11-6-3 overall record in 2021 after a strong run in the SAC Tournament before falling in the Finals.

The Lions will look to have Kevonte Willoughby-Williams replicate his freshman season after posting 11 goals and eight assists in his first year.
