Whalley, Chowan Men's Soccer Helps Ugandan Soccer Youth

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - Futbol, or soccer as it is called in America, is a game filled with passion, strategy, precision, discipline, and grace.  For some it is a way of life, outlet, a means to improve one's situation.

UGANDA_2Earlier in the summer, Chowan Men's Soccer gaffer, Chris Whalley, traveled to Kampala, UGANDA_3Uganda to help the Excel Soccer Academy with equipment and educating the youth of the game.  "To be able to visit Uganda was an experience of a lifetime," said Whalley.  "To help provide equipment and education to the youth soccer players there is something I will always treasure".

The Excel Soccer Academy is a soccer entity located in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, that provides a platform for many young people of this great nation an opportunity to excel at football.  "Words can not explain the gratitude we have for all the equipment and items that were donated to us from our friends at Chowan University," said Director of Excel Soccer Academy, Patrick Gwayambadde.

"From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank each and every body there and also thank Coach Chris Whalley for taking out time and traveling to Uganda. We look forward to your next visit."

"I know the youth and their families appreciated all the donations from Chowan, the Hawks Soccer Academy, and Lionsbridge FC," remarked Coach Whalley.
