MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team used a walk-off in game one to take a split on Senior Day against North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Haleigh Reid and Serena Riley paced the offense with three hits each with a double. Courtney Lamb, Mya Horne, and Hannah Eden added two hits each. Horne collected four RBI and the game-winning hit.
Megan Vincent picked up the win in the circle tossing 8.0 innings and posting six strikeouts.
Mary-Grace Crosby, Hannah Eden, Jesse Gentry, Courtney Lamb, Meredith Morgan, Hannah Naifeh, Serena Riley, Keira Teserovitch, and Megan Vincent were honored before the games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 6, North Greenville 5 (8)
North Greenville loaded the bases in the top of the first before Megan Vincent recorded a strikeout and a ground out to end the threat.
Chowan broke the scoreless contest in the bottom of the second as Haleigh Reid opened the inning with a walk before Courtney Lamb and Jesse Gentry recorded a single to load the bases. Mya Horne hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Reid for the opening run of the contest.
NGU rallied in the top of the fifth to plate three runs off five hits to take a 3-1 lead. The Crusaders added a run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-1.
The Hawks would rally in the bottom of the sixth inning as Haleigh Reid singled to right with one out to start the rally. Reid moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt by Courtney Lamb. Jesse Gentry reached on an error before Serena Riley doubled to plate the pair to close the gap to 4-3. Mya Horne singled up the middle to plate Riley to even the score, 4-all.
The Crusaders regained the lead in the top of the seventh taking advantage of the free pass, 5-4, scoring on a sacrifice fly.
Hannah Eden sparked a rally in the bottom of the seventh with a single to left. A pair of ground outs looked to squander the Hawks' rally before Courtney Lamb singled to left center to plate the pinch-runner, Elizabeth Heller, to knot the score at 5-all.
Megan Vincent was able to get a pop up to start the extra innings before Hannah Eden threw out the placed runner at second trying to steal third. Vincent produced a ground out to end the inning.
Serena Riley singled to left to put runners on the corners in the bottom of the eighth before Mya Horne singled to right center to bring home the winning run, 6-5.
Game Two: Chowan 1, North Greenville 9 (5)
North Greenville opened up the scoring in the top of the second scoring seven runs off five hits and an error to lead 7-0.
Chowan tallied their lone run in the bottom of the second as Haleigh Reid opened the inning with a double to left center. Courtney Lamb drew a walk and Serena Riley was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mya Horne delivered a sacrifice fly to plate Reid to close the gap to 7-1.
NGU added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 9-1.
