BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team was unable to knot the score up in the final two minutes of the contest against Lees-McRae in a one-goal defeat in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Leia Cabradillia led the Hawks with a hat-trick. Charity Brown and Morgan Grosse notched two goals each.
Cameryn Barrow, Kyra Jones, and Victoria Brown added one goal apiece. Barrow added three caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Jones added four ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Kyra Jones put the Hawks on the board first with an unassisted goal after a pair of stops by Kora Turner in goal.
Less than a minute later, Lees-McRae evened the score, 1-1.
Leia Cabradillia found the back of the net on the woman-down situation to put the Hawks up 2-1.
Kora Turner made three saves in the final minutes of the period to maintain the 2-1 lead.
Second Quarter:
The Bobcats evened the score early in the second frame before Morgan Grosse handed the lead back to the Hawks on a free position attempt. Grosse added to the tally with another free position goal to lead 4-2.
Chowan would take a 4-3 lead into the locker room.
Third Quarter:
LMC scored to open the frame prior to Charity Brown scoring an unassisted goal to hand the lead back to the Hawks, 5-4.
The Bobcats used a three goal run to take the lead 7-5 and never relinquish. Leia Cabradillia scored on a free position attempt with 39 seconds left in the quarter to trail 7-6.
Fourth Quarter:
Lees-McRae pushed their lead to 10-6 with three goals in the fourth quarter before Cameryn Barrow found the back of the net on a free position goal.
Charity Brown continued the momentum scoring on a free position attempt on the woman-up situation to cut the deficit to 10-8.
LMC posted their final goal with 5:22 remaining to lead 11-8. 35 seconds later, Leia Cabradillia scored an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to 11-9.
Less than a minute later, Victoria Brown closed the gap to 11-10 with an unassisted goal after causing a turnover.
With less than two minutes to play, Chowan had a pair of free position attempts get turned away as LMC took the victory.

Chowan returns home to take on Erskine on Saturday, April 9 as the Hawks will celebrate Senior Day. Opening draw control is slated for 1pm.
