SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Lacrosse team used a strong second half to hold off Converse for their first Conference Carolinas victory of the season on Wednesday afternoon.

Camryn Barrow and Grace Taylor contributed hat-tricks in the win. For Barrow it was her first collegiate hat-trick. Barrow and Taylor collected five draw controls each.
Kyra Jones tallied two goals, while Leia Cabradilla posted one goal and one assist. Trinity Walker and Morgan Grosse notched a goal each. Charity Brown and Shya Gambrell posted an assist.
Kora Turner picked up the win in goal with 12 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Cameryn Barrow opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the contest with a goal off an assist by Leia Cabradillia.
Converse would find the equalizer before Charity Brown found Grace Taylor to put the Hawks back on top 2-1.
The Valkyries would score in the final minute of the fame to even the score at 2-all.
Second Quarter:
Morgan Grosse tallied the first goal in the frame on a free position attempt before Converse scored two goals to close out the half to lead 4-3.
Third Quarter:
Cameryn Barrow scored to start the half to even the score prior to Converse scoring two goals in 30 seconds to take a 6-4 lead.
Kyra Jones' woman-down goal on a free position shot sparked a four goal rally for the Hawks. Leia Cabradillia and Cameryn Barrow scored unassisted goals to take the lead, 7-6.
Trinity Walker scored a free position goal to put the Hawks up 8-6 before the Valkyries found the back of the net twice to knot the score at 8-all.
Grace Taylor scored with 49 seconds remaining in the period to put the Hawks on top, 9-8, heading to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter:
Grace Taylor and Kyra Jones had opportunities early in the frame to extend the lead before Jones found the back of the net off a pass from Shya Gambrell to put the Hawks up 10-8 with 7:14 remaining.
Just over a minute later, Grace Taylor found the back of the net on a free position attempt to extend the lead to 11-8.
The Hawks' defense blocked a pair of free position attempts in the final minutes before Converse was able to find the back of the net with seconds remaining.

Chowan returns home for their final home game of the season as the Hawks host Erskine on Saturday, April 9. Opening draw control is slated for 1pm.
