MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team dropped their series against Erskine as the Hawks were swept on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action.

Tyler West paced the Hawks with three hits. Emanuel Betancourt and Dallas Trevena tallied two hits each. Betancourt posted a three-run home run in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game Two: Chowan 3, Erskine 7
Erskine took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a pair of extra base hits.
The Hawks cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning as Chowan loaded the bases. Emanuel Betancourt tallied a single up the middle before Patrick Krack and Ryan Bellamy posted full-count walks. Ben Bausas notched a RBI ground out to close the gap to 2-1.
The Fleet answered in the top of the third scoring on a passed ball to increase their lead to 3-1.
Chowan rallied in the bottom of the third inning to even the score at 3-all. Dallas Trevena started the rally with a walk before Noah Evington reached on an error. Tyler West singled to right to plate Trevena. Patrick Krack posted a sacrifice fly to plate Evington to even the score.
Erskine took advantage of an error in the fifth to regain the lead 4-3. The Hawks tried to rally in the fifth inning as Tyler West produced a single to left before moving into scoring position on a failed pick-off attempt.
The Fleet added a run in the sixth and a pair in the seventh to claim the 7-3 victory.
Game Three: Chowan 3, Erskine 11
Chowan gained the momentum in the bottom of the first inning as Dallas Trevena and Tyler West picked up singles. Emanuel Betancourt gave the Hawks a 3-0 lead on a home run to center field.
Erskine closed the gap with a run in the third before knotting up the score at 3-all in the top of the fourth inning.
The Fleet took the lead in the fifth with three run before adding a run in the seventh and four in the ninth.

Chowan will take on the Down East Wood Ducks in an exhibition contest on April 5. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
