FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Softball team dropped their league opener on the road against Emmanuel on Sunday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORES

Kaitlin Brunelli, Paige Wilhelm, and Meredith Morgan tallied two hits each.  Brunelli went 2-3 with a home run and two RBI in the nightcap.

Haleigh Reid added a home run on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Chowan 0, Emmanuel 8

Meredith Morgan picked up a one-out single before Haleigh Reid added a walk to open the contest.

Paige Wilhelm picked up a triple in the third inning but would be left stranded after a pair of strikeouts.

Emmanuel took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning before adding three runs in the fifth to lead 7-0.

Paige Wilhelm added a single in the sixth before Kaitlin Brunelli and Haleigh Reid posted walks in the frame.

The Lions finished off the contest in the sixth on a pair of hits.

Game Two: Chowan 4, Emmanuel 12

Meredith Morgan opened up the nightcap with a double.  Morgan came around to score as Kaitlin Brunelli hit a home run to put the Hawks up 2-0 early.

The Lions cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first on a pair of hits, 2-1.  Emmanuel evened the score in the third inning with small ball.

Chowan countered in the top of the fourth inning as Hannah Eden led off the inning with a single.  Haleigh Reid hit a home run to put the Hawks up 4-2.

Emmanuel used a six run frame in the fifth inning to take an 8-4 lead capitalizing on two errors.

Kaitlin Brunelli posted the final hit for the Hawks in the sixth before the Lions finished off the contest in the bottom half of the inning.

Chowan continues their road trip as the Hawks take on Erskine in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader on Monday, March 21.  First pitch is slated for 12pm.
