MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The offense was certainly clicking for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team to a tune of 29 goals in a victory against Shorter in a battle of the Hawks on Wednesday.

Jaxon Martin scored a program best 10 goals in the contest. Martin added four assists to secure a program best 14 points.
Eric George and Jackson Downs added four goals and five assists each. Erik Dozzi broke the school record with six assists in the contest.
Noah Jalal recorded his first collegiate hat-trick with three goals and one assist. Rylan Downey posted two goals in the win.
Camryn Snow, Jaylen Pierre, Sullivan Prince, Chris Maini, and Jason Jenkins II scored one goal each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Starting off his banner day, Jaxon Martin registered the fastest goal in program history, finding the back of the net just 30 seconds in off an assist from Eric George. The duo teamed up again as Martin found George for the 2-0 lead.
32 seconds later, Noah Jalal found the back of the net off an assist from Jason Jenkins II. Jackson Downs scored off an assist from Jaxon Martin before Downs assisted Erik Dozzi to put the Hawks up 5-0 in the opening five minutes.
Jaxon Martin scored back-to-back goals off assists from Jackson Downs and Eric George. George would score off an assist from Martin to lead 8-0 at the end of the frame.
Second Quarter:
Shorter would get on the board in the frame as the scoring slowed until Jaxon Martin found the back of the net on Jackson Downs' assist. Shorter scored their second goal to cut the deficit to 9-2.
Jaxon Martin continued his scoring with a pair of man-up goals off assists from Eric George and Jackson Downs. Rylan Downey found the back of the net off an assist from Erik Dozzi to lead 12-2.
The Hawks would score a man-down goal with 1:07 remaining as Martin found the back of the net after receiving the pass from Eric George to lead 13-2 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
Jackson Downs posted back-to-back goals to open up the half. Eric George put the Hawks up 16-2 as Erik Dozzi picked up the assist.
Chowan posted back-to-back man-up goals as Noah Jalal and Jason Jenkins II found the back of the net. Rylan Downey scored a goal off the assist from Erik Dozzi before Jaxon Martin scored an unassisted tally.
Camryn Snow finished off an assist by Erik Dozzi with 18 seconds remaining before Jaylen Pierre scored with five seconds remaining to lead 22-4.
Fourth Quarter:
Jackson Downs opened the frame with a goal off an assist from Jaxon Martin before Martin scored a pair of goals off assists from Eric George and Erik Dozzi to lead 25-4.
Eric George finished off the pass from Erik Dozzi before Shorter ended the run with a goal. Sullivan Prince and Chris Maini joined in the scoring with a goal as Adam Ammar picked up an assist on the Prince goal.
Shorter would close the gap to 28-9 with a four goal run before Noah Jalal finished the scoring with a man-up goal off an assist from Derick Knighting.

Chowan returns back to the field on Saturday, March 19 as the Hawks host Coker in non-conference action. Opening face-off is slated for 3pm.
