MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Winning four straight did not come easy for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team as the Hawks picked up a thrilling 13-12 victory over Coker in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks trailed 8-3 early in the third quarter and outscored the Cobras 10-5 in the second half.
Eric George paced the Hawks with six goals and one assist. Jaxon Martin added five goals. Jason Jenkins II posted one goal and two assists. Noah Jalal collected three assists, while Jackson Downs and Erik Dozzi added two assists.
Alec Rodopoulos picked up the win in goal with 17 saves. Camryn Snow tallied five caused turnovers, none bigger than with 17 seconds remaining.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Coker scored the opening two goals of the contest before Jason Jenkins II found Eric George for the lone tally in the frame for the Hawks.
The Cobras added two more goals in the stanza to lead 4-1.
Second Quarter:
Coker scored the opening goal in the frame before Eric George found the back of the net off an assist from Erik Dozzi. George would then find Jaxon Martin to close the gap to 5-3.
The Cobras took a 7-3 advantage into the locker room.
Third Quarter:
Coker scored quickly in the frame to lead 8-3 before Jason Jenkins and Jaxon Martin scored back-to-back goals in a matter of 53 seconds to cut the deficit to 8-5. Noah Jalal collected an assist on the Martin goal.
Jaxon Martin and Harrison Buckman found the back of the net off assists by Desmond Stukes and Jason Jenkins II to offset the Cobra goals, 10-7.
Noah Jalal found Jaxon Martin for the final goal of the frame to trail 10-8 to spark a run for the Hawks.
Fourth Quarter:
Eric George scored three goals in the opening 5:03 in the quarter to put the Hawks on top 11-10. Noah Jalal added an assist on the first goal before Erik Dozzi collected the assist on the third goal on the man-up situation.
Jaxon Martin put the Hawks up 12-10 as Jackson Downs collected an assist in the man-up opportunity.
Coker rallied back to score a pair of goals over the next 38 seconds to even the score at 12-all.
The Cobras looked to take the lead with 1:33 remaining as the Coker goal was disallowed after the Cobra attacker entered the crease.
Chowan promptly took advantage racing up the field and getting the man-advantage with a pair of penalties. Jackson Downs found Eric George in front of goal with 1:00 remaining to lead 13-12.
Alec Rodopoulos came up big in goal with a save with 24 seconds remaining. With the Cobras still on the attack, Camryn Snow caused the turnover in front of the goal allowing the Hawks to run out the clock.
