MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team dropped their season opener at home against Lander on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Jaxon Martin paced the Hawks with two goals.  Eric George and Jackson Downs tallied one goal and one assist each.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Lander opened the scoring quickly scoring eight goals in the opening 15 minutes of play while holding the Hawks scoreless.

Second Quarter:

The Bearcats pushed their advantage to 14-0 before the halftime whistle.

Third Quarter:

Following a Lander goal, the Hawks would get on the board as Jackson Downs found Jaxon Martin for the opening tally for the Hawks.

Fourth Quarter:

The Hawks would go on a three goal run to cut the deficit to 15-4 in the fourth period.  Jaxon Martin would find the back of the net for the second time as Eric George tallied the assist.

Jackson Downs and Eric George found the back of the net on unassisted tallies to end the scoring for the Hawks.

Lander posted two more goals in the frame to take the victory.
