TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team picked up a huge road victory against North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday.

Jay Estime collected 18 points to lead the Hawks. Cheich Traore posted his first double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Christian Koonce and Chase Barnett chipped in with 16 points each. Barnett added eight assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan raced out to an early 11-2 run as Cheick Traore scored three points followed by a Chase Barnett jumper and triples by Christian Koonce and Jay Estime.
Jay Estime and Marcus Elliott connected from deep as North Greenville trimmed the deficit to 17-16 before RJ Wilson knocked down a trey. Estime hit a three-pointer along with a layup by Cheick Traore to put the Hawks in front 26-18.
Christian Koonce added a three-pointer along with a jumper by Cheick Traore prior to NGU closing the gap to 31-27. Koonce connected from the floor to give the Hawks a 33-27 advantage heading into the locker room.
Second Half:
The Hawks pushed their lead to double-figures as Christian Koonce, Chase Barnett, and Cheick Traore scored to open the frame. Koonce tallied a pair of buckets to give the Hawks a 45-33 lead.
NGU countered with nine straight points before Jay Estime and Chase Barnett connected from the floor to end the run. The Crusaders evened the score at 53-all with 6:33 remaining before taking the lead two minutes later.
Jay Estime evened the score at the free throw line before Chase Barnett and Cheick Traore handed the lead back to the Hawks with baskets. Estime knocked down a triple with 1:23 remaining to send the Hawks to the charity stripe to finish off the contest.
Chase Barnett and Christian Koonce sealed the victory at the line.
