MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Baseball team rallied back to earn the series victory in the finale as the Hawks defeated Wheeling 8-7 on Sunday afternoon.

Justin Winslow led the team at the plate going 3-3 with a RBI and three stolen bases. Noah Evington, Tyler West, Patrick Krack and Ty Johnson collected two hits each. Evington, West, and Johnson registered two RBI.
Jayden Bailey picked up the win in relief with 2.1 innings with six strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Wheeling loaded the bases in the top of the first inning before starter Carson Everette worked out of the jam with a ground out. The Cardinals would take a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning as a throwing miscue led to a run followed by a sacrifice fly.
The Hawks would rally in the bottom half of the inning as Patrick Krack produced a one-out triple down the first base line. Justin Winslow singled to left to plate Krack to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Cardinals extended their lead to 5-1 in the top of third as a two-out hit-by-pitch led to the rally. Ben Bausas ended the rally with a fly out with the bases loaded.
Chowan responded in the bottom of the fourth inning as Patrick Krack singled to spark the rally. Justin Winslow and Ethan Robinson singled to load the bases with one-out. Ty Johnson singled down the right field line to plate a pair before swiping second. Noah Evington produced a two-out single to center to even the score, 5-all.
The Hawks would take a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning as Justin Winslow singled to lead off the inning. Winslow swiped second prior to Dallas Trevena drew a walk and Noah Evington singled to load the bases. Tyler West recorded a RBI single to right before a misplay in right allowed two runs to score.
Wheeling took advantage of a miscue with two-outs to even the score with a pair of runs. Jayden Bailey picked up a strikeout to close the door.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Ty Johnson singled up the middle before swiping second. Johnson would move over to third on a ground out before scoring on Tyler West's single to left.
Jayden Bailey struck out the side in the ninth inning to finish off the victory.

Chowan is scheduled to take on Mid-Atlantic Christian on Wednesday, February 16 on the road. First pitch is slated for 4pm at Knobbs Creek Park.
