MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team used balanced scoring in a blowout of Southern Wesleyan on Senior Day in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Brianna Copeland led the team with 12 points connecting on four three-pointers. Keibra Hopkins added 12 points, while Aniah Patterson added 11 points and Olivia Gaither collected 10 points.
Demetria Bland registered nine assists as 12 of the 13 Hawks that played recorded points.
Chowan led 45-20 at the intermission and 69-36 at the end of the third quarter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Olivia Gaither started the scoring for the Hawks with a pair of layups. Southern Wesleyan evened the score at 4-all before Tyaysia Sharpe and Aniah Patterson knocked down triples. Keibra Hopkins added a jumper to lead 12-4.
Keibra Hopkins added another jumper before a 9-0 run by the Hawks put Chowan on top 23-8. Aniah Patterson hit a jumper followed by a layup by Olivia Gaither and a three-pointer by Brianna Copeland. Destiny Robinson ended the run with a layup.
The Hawks would lead 23-11 at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter:
Brianna Copeland and Monique Jones started the scoring in the period with a pair of buckets. Copeland connected from deep before the Hawks finished off the half with a 15-5 run.
Keibra Hopkins sparked the run with a layup followed by a basket by Destiny Robinson and Monique Jones. Hopkins added another jumper before Shequana Jackson scored a layup.
Aniah Patterson hit a jumper prior to a three-pointer by Tyaysia Sharpe to lead 45-20 at the halftime buzzer.
Third Quarter:
Monique Jones hit a jumper to start the period before Olivia Gaither went coast-to-coast with a steal and layup in transition. Aniah Patterson collected the next four points before Jones added a jumper to lead 55-27.
Keibra Hopkins, Jahkeria Bagby and Demetria Bland would connect from the floor to give the Hawks their largest lead of the contest, 63-29. Bagby, Hopkins and Shequana Jackson tallied two points each to lead 69-36 at the end of the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter:
Kashara Simpson posted a layup off an assist from Demetria Bland to open the scoring in the final stanza. Olivia Gaither hit a jumper before Brianna Copeland connected from deep to offset points by the Warriors.
Emaree Hinton picked up a point at the stripe before Brianna Copeland knocked down a trey for the final tally in the contest.

Chowan hits the road for their final five contests as the Hawks travel to Barton on Tuesday, February 15 in a rescheduled contest. Tip-off is slated for 5pm in Wilson.
