WILSON, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team saw their five game winning streak come to a close in an 83-66 loss in league action on Wednesday evening as Barton used a second half surge to halt the streak.

Daylan Askew paced the offense with 19 points. RJ Wilson chipped in with 10 points, while Chase Barnett and Preston Le Gassick added nine points. Isaac Hippolyte hauled in eight rebounds.
Chowan shot 25.7% (9-35) from the floor in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Chowan started the scoring as Isaac Hippolyte collected a pair from the stripe on the opening possession. Preston Le Gassick knocked down a triple following an offensive rebound. The defense forced a 10-second violation as Daylan Askew connected from deep to lead 8-2. Hippolyte added a layup before Le Gassick added a pair from the line to lead 12-4.
After a pair of freebies for Barton, Christian Koonce knocked down a triple from the right wing. RJ Wilson added a layup as the Bulldogs went on a 12-0 run to take the lead 22-17. Cheick Traore picked up a pair from the stripe to continue the scoring for the Hawks. Daylan Askew ended the four minute drought from the floor with a putback basket. Askew added a pair from the stripe to flip the lead back to the Hawks, 23-22.
Barton rallied back with four quick points to lead 26-23. RJ Wilson picked up a point at the stripe and grabbed his own rebound as Skyler Davies added a free throw. Wilson hit a turnaround jumper before a three-pointer by Preston Le Gassick evened the score at 30-all.
Veigar Alexandersson answered with a back-door layup along with a layup by Cheick Traore. Chase Barnett hit a jumper to close the gap to 38-36. The Bulldogs would go on a run to stretch their advantage to 47-38 before RJ Wilson connected from deep to end the run.
Barton would lead 49-41 at the intermission.
Second Half:
The Bulldogs pushed their lead to double-digits to start the half with a 12-2 run. Daylan Askew tallied a pair from the stripe to put the Hawks on the board as the Hawks went scoreless for the opening 5:34 before Askew finished off the old-fashioned three-point play. Askew continued to be the only offense in the half from the Hawks with a driving layup and a triple, 65-51.
Chase Barnett entered the scoring column in the half with a layup and the foul as the run continued for the Hawks. Barnett tallied a pair of layups as the Bulldogs pulled away, 74-56. RJ Wilson added a layup in transition before adding a jumper.
Skyler Davies and Preston Le Gassick picked up a point at the stripe. Oli Gestsson connected from the floor for his first collegiate points with a jumper.
