FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team overcame a sluggish start before faltering down the stretch in a 63-52 loss to Emmanuel on the road in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon.

Destiny Robinson led the team with 14 points and six rebounds. Keibra Hopkins added nine points.
Emmanuel went 4-12 from the free throw line in the first three quarters before hitting 13-16 in the fourth quarter. Chowan was held without a made three pointer for the first time this season.
Four players combined for all of Emmanuel's points in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Emmanuel started off the contest on a 7-0 run before Destiny Robinson collected the opening basket and free throw for the Hawks. Brittany Wilcox added a layup to cut the deficit to 7-5.
The Lions ended the quarter on a 15-4 run as Imani Hickman and Destiny Robinson added a basket to trail 22-9.
Second Quarter:
Brittany Wilcox collected a basket before Keibra Hopkins added a three-point play. Destiny Robinson picked up a pair from the stripe. Following an Emmanuel basket, Imani Hickman added a layup to cut the deficit to 24-18 midway through the frame.
Yasmine Brown picked up a point at the stripe before Sydney Roberts hit a jumper. Aniah Patterson posted a layup as Roberts hit a jumper to even the score at 25-all. Brown notched a pair at the stripe before the Hawks went into the locker room trailing 30-27.
Third Quarter:
A quick four points to open the frame gave the Hawks their only lead of the game, 31-30, as Destiny Robinson notched a pair from the stripe and Aniah Patterson added a layup. The Lions countered with a 10-0 run before Keibra Hopkins ended the run with a pair of layups.
Aniah Patterson tallied a pair from the stripe and Destiny Robinson picked up the old-fashioned three-point play to cut the deficit to 41-40.
Fourth Quarter:
Keibra Hopkins tallied a pair from the stripe before Emmanuel went on a 12-2 run picking up most of their points from the charity stripe. Brittany Wilcox contributed a basket during the offensive struggle. Imani Hickman and Destiny Robinson posted a basket.
Jayah King-Johnson and Yasmine Brown ended the scoring for the Hawks with a basket each.
