MURFREESBORO, N.C. – Two Hawks registered double-doubles but were unable to outpace UNC Pembroke in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening.

Ellie Middleton paced the Hawks with 10 kills and 11 digs. Alexa Woolson collected her second straight double-double and third of the season with 15 assists and 11 digs.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted 11 kills, while Diana Rodriguez tallied a team-high 29 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Anixa Rosa-Martinez notched the first kill for the Hawks before a kill by Ellie Middleton and a service ace by Diana Rodriguez closed the gap to 11-9. Attacking errors allowed the Braves to add to their lead, 21-13, as Alexa Woolson and Chloe Putnam tallied a kill. UNCP finished off the set 25-15.
The Hawks would play from behind in the second set as Anixa Rosa-Martinez, Nia Baskin, and Ellie Middleton added a kill. Chloe Putnam tallied two kills and Middleton collected another to trim the deficit to 13-10. Rosa-Martinez and Baskin recorded a kill and an assisted block to cut the deficit to 18-16. Middleton added a pair of kills to even the score at 20-all. Haydon Ahlers and Putnam posted a kill down the stretch as the Braves took the second set 25-22.
Once again, the Hawks saw an early deficit despite kills by Ellie Middleton, Anixa Rosa-Martinez, and Nia Baskin. Chowan rattled off five straight points as Baskin and Haydon Ahlers started the rally. Diana Rodriguez added a service ace and Middleton posted a solo block to even the score at 9-all. Both teams traded points in the middle of the set as Rosa-Martinez put the Hawks up 17-16. Middleton gave the Hawks some breathing room with a pair of kills along with a block by Haydon Ahlers and Chloe Putnam. Middleton finished off the set with a kill to take the set 25-19.
Brianna Moye started the set off with a kill as Anixa Rosa-Martinez notched three straight kills to give the Hawks a 6-5 lead early. Rosa-Martinez added another kill before the Braves scored the next seven points to lead 17-11. Rosa-Martinez, Nia Baskin, and Haydon Ahlers added a kill before the Braves finished off the match.
