HOW IT HAPPENED

Chowan jumped out to an early lead as Nia Baskin collected a pair of kills.  King rallied before a pair of kills by Anixa Rosa-Martinez sparked a run by the Hawks.  Ellie Middleton added a kill and Nyah Powers and Chloe Putnam posted an assisted block to level the score at 10-all.  Baskin along with Putnam, and Powers gave the Hawks an 18-17 advantage before Hadley Prince served up an ace and Sydney Ginaitt tallied a setter's kill.  Putnam would pick up a kill before Alexa Woolson ended the set with a service ace, 25-20.

King raced out to an early 6-2 advantage as Nia Baskin collected a kill and Baskin and Madison Hall posted a block.  Hall picked up a kill along with a pair of kills by Chloe Putnam cut the deficit to 11-6.  The Hawks rallied back to even the set at 14-all on a trio of kills by Ellie Middleton and a kill by Nyah Powers.  After a kill by Baskin, King scored the next seven of the next eight points to take control of the set, 22-16.  A pair of kills by Chloe Putnam closed the gap but a service ace by Putnam was not enough for the comeback as King took the set 25-21.

In a set that featured 10 ties, the Hawks took a slight advantage, 15-12 after kills by Madison Hall, Chloe Putnam, and Anixa Rosa-Martinez.  The lead would move to 19-14 on a kill by Rosa-Martinez and Ellie Middleton along with a service ace by Hadley Prince.  Chowan would lead 21-6 before King rallied back.  Nia Baskin and Ellie Middleton collected a kill as the Tornado posted the final four points in the set to take the set 25-23.

The fourth set featured much of the same as the third set as the Hawks and Tornado were knotted up at 10-all.  A four-point run by the Tornado gave King the momentum.  Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted a trio of kills and Diana Rodriguez added a service ace to close the gap to 17-15.  King would fight off the rally to take the final set 25-20.
