FLORENCE, S.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team dropped a Conference Carolinas match to Francis Marion on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted a match-high 11 kills. Madison Hall chipped in with six kills.
Natalia Vega-Aponte tallied 13 digs, with Hadley Prince recording 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Anixa Rosa-Martinez registered the first kill for the Hawks along with a kill by Anamarie Colon-Calero before Francis Marion extended their lead to 10-4.
Chloe Putnam notched a kill prior to Madison Hall picking up a pair of kills and Nyah Powers grabbing a kill to cut the deficit to 13-8.
Katie Houston posted two kills as FMU pushed their advantage to 23-14. Anixa Rosa-Martinez tallied two kills before the end of the set.
Second Set:
Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted two kills early before Ciara Oretga notched a kill to give the Hawks a 5-4 lead.
Hadley Prince tallied a kill but the Patriots countered with a 7-0 run before Madison Hall slowed the run with a kill, 13-7.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Madison Hall posted a kill as the Patriots pushed their advantage to 21-11. Chloe Putnam posted the final kill in the set for the Hawks as FMU took the set 25-14.
Third Set:
Madison Hall started off the set with a kill along with two miscues by the Patriots. FMU would then rattle off five straight points to lead 5-3. Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Ellie Middleton posted a kill to even the set.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Anamarie Colon-Calero posted a kill as both sides traded points in the middle portion of the set. Haydon Ahlers recorded a kill along with a block by Madison Hall and a kill by Rosa-Martinez to pull the Hawks even, 18-all.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez, Anamarie Colon-Calero, Hadley Prince, and Madison Hall notched a kill but was not enough as FMU took the contested set 25-23.

Chowan will return home for a league weekend as the Hawks host North Greenville and Belmont Abbey on October 1-2. First serve is at 6pm on October 1.
