HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One: Chowan 2, Erskine 4 – 10 innings

Erskine was able to get a runner to third in the top of the first inning but a fly out would end the inning.  The Flying Fleet would make noise in the second inning putting two runners into scoring position before EmaRae Flores picked up a strikeout to end the threat.

The Fleet loaded the bases in the third inning, but once again EmaRae Flores and the defense was able to get out of the jam unscathed.

Mikayla Luskin drew a four-pitch walk in the third for the first baserunner for the Hawks.  In the fourth inning, Delaney Devor led off the inning with a walk and swiped second.  Haleigh Reid benefited from a misstep by the centerfield allowing for a base hit and Devor to come around to score for the 1-0 lead.

Erskine rallied in the top of the sixth as a fielder's choice allowed a lead-off walk to score and even the contest at 1-all.

Hannah Eden doubled to left field to start the sixth but the Fleet pitcher picked up three straight strikeouts to halt the rally.

The Fleet tried to post the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the placed runner at second moved to third on a sac bunt.  Delaney Devor would hose the runner at the plate trying to score.

Erskine broke the draw in the ninth with a two-out single to lead 2-1.  The Hawks would answer in the bottom of the inning as Hannah Eden was moved to third on a Delaney Devor sac bunt before scoring on Serena Riley's single through the left side.  Haleigh Reid drew a walk before the inning ended.

In the 10th, Erskine plated a pair as an error aided the inning, 4-2.  Jesse Gentry singled up the middle to put runners on the corners in the bottom of the inning before three straight outs ended the contest.

Game Two: Chowan 2, Erskine 7

Hannah Eden singled to deep left center and moved to second on a sac bunt by Delaney Devor.  Serena Riley reached on an error but would be left stranded.

The Fleet would break the scoreless contest open in the fourth inning with three runs off three hits and an error.

Kaitlin Brunelli drew a walk in the fourth inning before Erskine tallied four runs off three hits and two errors to lead 7-0.

Chowan rallied in the fifth as Mikayla Luskin led off the inning with a single through the left side.  Luskin moved over to third on a pair of wild pitches.  Hannah Eden doubled home Luskin before Eden scored on Serena Riley's RBI single to left.

Jesse Gentry singled in the sixth and Mary Grace Crosby reached on an error in the seventh.
