MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team suffered a 16-11 loss to Conference Carolinas rival, Barton, at home on Saturday evening despite a late rally.

Eric George and Jackson Downs led the offensive attack with a five point outing with a hat-trick and two assists each. Jaxon Martin also recorded a hat-trick with three goals and an assist.
Erik Dozzi and Jason Jenkins II posted a goal each. The Hawks peppered the cage with 30 shots on goal, but the Bulldog goalkeepers stopped 19 shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Eric George put the Hawks on the board early after an assist by Jackson Downs to lead 1-0.
Barton scored the next five goals before Eric George score off an assist from Jaxon Martin to trail 5-2.
Second Quarter:
Eric George netted his third of the contest off an assist from Erik Dozzi. George returned the favor to Dozzi for a goal as the Hawks trailed 9-4 heading into the half.
Third Quarter:
Jackson Downs tallied the lone goal for the Hawks in the period as the lead for Barton moved to 13-5.
Fourth Quarter:
Jackson Downs scored an unassisted tally to open the scoring in the period. Jaxon Martin posted back-to-back man-up goals off assists from Alex Wildeboer and Downs to cut the deficit to 14-8.
Following a goal by the Bulldogs, Jackson Downs tallied another unassisted goal. Jaxon Martin scored off an assist from Eric George.
Jason Jenkins II scored with 11 seconds remaining for the final tally in the contest.

Chowan returns back to action on Wednesday, March 10 in a non-conference contest against Montevallo. Opening face-off is scheduled for 2pm.
