BELMONT, N.C. – The Chowan Softball bats were quiet in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader against Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon on the road.

Paige Wilhelm picked up two hits for the Hawks including the lone hit in game one. Hannah Eden posted one hit.
Delaney Devor posted two walks. Jesse Gentry recorded a RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 0, Belmont Abbey 8 (5 innings)
Belmont Abbey opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with two runs off three hits to lead 2-0.
The Crusaders extended their lead to 5-0 in the second inning on two hits and an error. BAC led 6-0 after the third inning with a solo home run.
Jesse Gentry became the first base runner for the Hawks in the fourth inning with a two-out walk. Paige Wilhelm collected the only hit in the contest with a double to right center in the fifth.
Belmont Abbey posted a walk-off run-rule victory with two runs in the fifth.
Game Two: Chowan 1, Belmont Abbey 2 (8 innings)
Chowan jumped on the board in the top of the first inning in game two as Hannah Eden singled to left field before moving over to third on a pair of wild pitches. Delaney Devor drew a walk before a RBI ground out by Jesse Gentry put the Hawks on the board.
Belmont Abbey looked to crack the scoreboard in the fourth inning as a pair of singles sparked a rally but a strikeout and a line out ended the threat.
Kesley Sonntag was hit by a pitch in the fifth before Belmont Abbey rallied to even the score at 1-all.
In the sixth, Hannah Eden drew a one-out walk and moved to second on a Delaney Devor sacrifice bunt. Jesse Gentry drew a walk before both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch. A line out ended the rally for the Hawks.
Belmont Abbey tried to push across a run in the bottom of the inning as a double to start the inning was thwarted by a strong throw from Hannah Naifeh nabbed the runner looking for a triple.
Paige Wilhelm reached on a bunt single but was left stranded in the seventh.
The Hawks were unable to get the runners past third base in the eighth as a fielder's choice erased the runner going home.
The Crusaders would walk off in the bottom of the inning to take the doubleheader.
