GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team suffered a season opening loss on the road to Lander in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Eric George scored his first collegiate hat-trick with the Hawks' only goals of the afternoon. George also posted a team-high eight ground balls.
Deven Roberts and Alex Wildeboer tallied an assist on the George's goals.
Nathan Woodhill took the loss in cage stopping 12 shots. Jaylen Pierre recorded three caused turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Lander would score two quick goals to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Eric George would net his first collegiate goal with 11:08 remaining to cut the deficit in half.
Eric George found the back of the net midway through the opening half to keep the deficit at one, 3-2.
The Bearcats scored three goals to end the period to lead 6-2.
Second Quarter:
The scoring slowed in the period as Lander pushed across two goals to lead 8-2. Eric George scored the lone goal for the Hawks in the period to net a hat-trick.
Lander led 9-3 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
The Bearcats pushed their advantage to 11-3. Jaxon Martin, Sullivan Prince, and Jason Jenkins II posted shots on goal in the period.
Fourth Quarter:
Jason Jenkins II, Rylan Downey, and Jaxon Martin tallied shots on goal in the period.
