Chowan Falls To Tusculum On Rainy Sunday

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – In the home opener for the Chowan Men's Lacrosse team, the Hawks fell to Tusculum in non-conference action on a rainy Sunday afternoon inside Garrison Stadium.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Eric George and Jackson Downs posted two goals each.  Alex Wildeboer led the team with three points with two assists and a goal. Jaxon Martin notched an assist.

Erik Dozzi led the team with seven ground balls and posted a goal.  Jaylen Pierre posted four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Nathan Woodhill had 19 saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Tusculum would strike first in the contest five minutes in before Eric George evened the score at 1-all just 40 seconds later.

After a save by Nathan Woodhill, the Pioneers scored on the rebound.  Tusculum would find the back of the net twice in the final minute to lead 4-1.

Second Quarter:

Eric George and Jackson Downs had great looks at the cage in the early portion of the period before Alex Wildeboer found Downs in the man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to 4-2.

The Hawks used the extra-man possession again as Alex Wildeboer found Erik Dozzi for his first collegiate goal to trail 4-3.

Just over a minute later, Tusculum would start a two goal run before the half to lead 6-3.

Third Quarter:

Jackson Downs started the scoring with an unassisted goal to post the only goal of the period for the Hawks.

Tusculum scored six straight goals to lead 12-4.

Fourth Quarter:

After a Pioneer goal, Alex Wildeboer was on the receiving end of a Jaxon Martin assist for his first collegiate goal.

Eric George tallied the final goal for the Hawks as Tusculum led 13-6.

UP NEXT

Chowan will head to West Virginia to take on Wheeling on Sunday, February 21.  Opening face-off is slated for 12pm.
