MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Softball team wrapped up the sweep against Frostburg State with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Jesse Gentry paced the offense with three hits. Kaitlin Brunelli, Hannah Naifeh, Haleigh Reid, Meredith Morgan, and Hannah Eden tallied two hits each. Brunelli, Morgan, and Eden picked up a double.
Meredith Morgan posted four RBI to lead the team. Courtney Lamb recorded three walks in game two.
Bailey Wilcox picked up the win in the circle in game one with a complete game allowing one run off four hits. Megan Vincent pitched a complete game in the nightcap with nine strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One: Chowan 4, Frostburg State 1
Mikayla Luskin picked up the first hit for the Hawks with a single down the left field line. Haleigh Reid singled down the right field line with two-outs to push Luskin to third. Kaitlin Brunelli drew a walk to load the bases but a ground out ended the threat.
Frostburg State would post the opening run of the contest in the second inning as a lead-off double would lead to a run.
The Hawks rallied in the third inning as Hannah Eden led off the inning with a double to right center. Jesse Gentry picked up a single before Haleigh Reid singled home Eden. Meredith Morgan picked up two-RBI single to give the Hawks a 3-1 advantage.
The middle innings moved quickly until the sixth inning when the Hawks posted an insurance run to lead 4-1. Kaitlin Brunelli drew a lead-off walk. Madison Dilday would pitch run for Brunelli and score on Hannah Naifeh's two out single to left.
Game Two: Chowan 5, Frostburg State 3
The Bobcats used two free passes to start the nightcap to get on the board as Frostburg State scored two runs on a double.
Chowan countered in the bottom of the first inning as Hannah Eden led off with a base knock up the middle. Mikayla Luskin reached on an error and Jesse Gentry singled up the middle to load the bases. An attempted sacrifice fly would go by the wayside as the tagging runner was thrown out at the plate. Doubles by Kaitlin Brunelli and Meredith Morgan would clear the bases to lead 3-2.
Frostburg State evened the score in the top of the fourth on two hits and a Hawk miscue with two outs.
Courtney Lamb drew a walk and Kelsey Sonntag was hit by a pitch in the fourth but was left stranded.
Megan Vincent worked out of a jam in the fifth as the Bobcats had the go-ahead run at third before Vincent picked up the strikeout.
Mikayla Luskin started a rally in the fifth with a lead-off walk. Haleigh Reid produced a ground out to move Luskin to second before Kaitlin Brunelli singled to right to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead.
Chowan added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Courtney Lamb drew a walk and Hannah Naifeh singled to left. An error by the Bobcats allowed Lamb to come around and score to lead 5-3.
The final attempt for Frostburg State in the seventh would fail as the ball did not leave the infield with a strikeout, popup and groundout.

Chowan is scheduled for a two-week break before facing North Greenville on March 12 in Conference Carolinas action.
