INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

The teams would combine for 35 runs, 33 hits, and eight home runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After an easy start in the field for the Hawks, Tyler West started the scoring in the bottom half of the inning with a solo shot to right center.  Dallas Trevena picked up a two-out double and moved to third on a wild pitch before being stranded.

Emmanuel would crack the scoreboard in the second inning as the Lions scored six runs in the inning.  A two out error helped spark the rally after a solo home run to start the inning evened the score.  Following the error, five runs would score on four hits including a two-run homer.

Chowan would rally in the bottom of the third inning to even the score at 6-all.  Trenton Lee and Tyler Jones started the inning with a pair of singles.  The runners would advance a base on a failed pick-off attempt.  Tyler West singled up the middle to plate Lee before Patrick Krack's fielder's choice scored Jones.

With two outs in the inning, three straight errors by the Lions allowed two runs to score.  Christian Allen would hit a sacrifice fly to draw even, 6-all.

The Lions would counter in the fourth inning with a two-run home run to take the lead 8-6.  Emmanuel plated two more runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 10-6.

Noah Evington inched the Hawks closer in the fifth inning with a solo blast, 10-7.  Emmanuel recorded three more runs in the sixth to push the score to 13-7.

Christian Allen sparked a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with a full count walk.  Tyler West singled before Patrick Krack reached on an infield single to score Allen.  Dallas Trevena would clear the bases with a three-run home run to left center to pull the Hawks to within two, 13-11.

Once again, Emmanuel answered with a six-run seventh inning on four hits including a home run to lead 19-11.  The Lions then plated five runs in the eighth to swell the lead to 24-11.

In the ninth, Joe Nelms, Ryan Messer, and Jeffrey Hiner loaded the bases with singles.  A ground ball double play ended the threat and contest.
