Chowan Squeezed By Cobras On The Road

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team was unable to continue the momentum from the weekend victory falling to Coker 17-5 on the road on Tuesday afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Jackson Downs recorded his second hat-trick of the season with three goals and one assist.  Eric George recorded two goals to go with five ground balls.

Deven Roberts led the Hawks with six ground balls, Erik Dozzi recorded five ground balls.  Adam Howard went 8-9 at the face-off spot.

Nathan Woodhill posted 11 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Chowan would go on the extra-man early in the contest but Alex Wildeboer's attempt would miss wide.  Jackson Downs would hit the post before Nathan Woodhill made two saves.

Coker would get on the board first with three goals.  Nathan Woodhill would make a series of saves before Jackson Downs found the back of the net.

The Cobras scored with less than 10 seconds remaining to lead 4-1.

Second Quarter:

Jackson Downs would find Eric George for the lone tally in the period for the Hawks.

Coker pushed their lead to 8-2 with three goals to finish up the half.  Jackson Downs recorded a shot on cage with less than 30 seconds remaining but was denied.

Third Quarter:

Coker opened the contest open in the period with seven goals.  Jackson Downs scored an unassisted tally midway through the period.

Fourth Quarter:

After a goal by the Cobras, Eric George scored on the man-up advantage with 5:03 remaining.

Jackson Downs scored an unassisted goal with a minute to play to fall 17-5.

UP NEXT

Chowan will return home on March 6 to face Barton in Conference Carolinas action.
