WHEELING, W.VA. – Three Hawks registered a hat-trick in the Chowan Men's Lacrosse 16-6 victory over Wheeling on Sunday afternoon.

Jaxon Martin and Jackson Downs led the Hawks with four goals each. Martin registered an assist. Alex Wildeboer scored a hat-trick.
Jason Jenkins II and Eric George tallied one goal and two assists. Hassan Davis and Erik Dozzi posted one goal and one assist. Adam Ammar picked up his first collegiate goal. Davis also recorded six ground balls and went 13-20 at the face-off spot.
Nathan Woodhill picked up the win in cage with 16 saves. Carlos Pasula picked up a team-high seven ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Jackson Downs put the Hawks on the board quickly scoring just 90 seconds into the contest. Eric George would find the back of the net to put the Hawks up 2-0. Jason Jenkins II gets a pass at the top of the zone and rolls to the left side of the field for an easy goal.
Wheeling scored with just under two minutes to play in the period. Three seconds later, Hassan Davis won the face-off and scored to put the Hawks up 4-1.
Second Quarter:
Erik Dozzi scored to open up the second period with a goal coming from behind the cage to put the Hawks up 5-1. Jackson Downs freezes the keeper and slides one past before netting another goal to increase the lead to 7-1.
Alex Wildeboer scored off an assist from Erik Dozzi on the man-up situation to lead 8-1. Jaxon Martin found Jackson Downs with 5.1 seconds left on the man-up to lead 9-1 at the intermission.
Third Quarter:
A long clear attempt by the Cardinals led to a goal to open the half. The Hawks scored three quick goals to lead 13-2. Alex Wildeboer started the scoring off an assist from Eric George. Jaxon Martin found the back of the net twice, once off a quick face-off win by Hassan Davis and then an unassisted tally.
Wheeling scored two goals to trim the deficit to 13-4. Jaxon Martin scored an unassisted tally to stop the Cardinal run. Jason Jenkins II found Alex Wildeboer for his hat-trick goal to lead 15-4 at the end of the period.
Fourth Quarter:
Wheeling scored the opening goal of the period with less than five minutes to play. Jason Jenkins II finds Adam Ammar to equalize the goal in the period.
The Cardinals tallied a late goal as Chowan took the victory 16-6.

Chowan will continue their road swing as the Hawks travel to Coker in a non-conference contest on Tuesday, February 23. Opening face-off is slated for 3pm.
