MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Chowan Women's Basketball team suffered a 66-50 loss to #25 Barton in Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday evening.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

Destiny Robinson led the Hawks with 12 points.  Jahkeria Bagby posted seven points in seven minutes of action.  Monique Jones hauled in 14 rebounds including 10 offensive boards to go with her five points.

The Hawks shot 27.9% (19-68) on the evening as Barton registered eight blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

Tyaysia Sharpe scored the opening bucket of the contest before Olivia Gaither knocked down a jumper to even the score at 4-aside.

Barton went on a 15-2 run to end the quarter as Tyaysia Sharpe scored a jumper as the Bulldogs led 19-6 at the end of the opening stanza.

Second Quarter:

The run continued for the Bulldogs as Destiny Robinson connected from the floor to cut the deficit to 29-8.  Jahkeria Bagby added a layup before Robinson posted four more points to trail 31-14.

Jahkeria Bagby ended the quarter with a bucket to trail 31-16 at the halftime buzzer.

Third Quarter:

Barton started the half on an 11-2 run as Aniah Patterson scored on a putback bucket during the run.  Jahkeria Bagby ended the run with an old-fashioned three-point play to trail 42-21.

Aniah Patterson, Kandis Johnson, and Shequana Jackson posted a bucket each before Keibra Hopkins finished off the quarter with a layup to trail 48-31.

Fourth Quarter:

The Hawks used a 7-0 to cut the deficit to 10, 48-38 as Monique Jones scored the opening five points of the quarter followed by a bucket by Keibra Hopkins.

Aniah Patterson picked up a pair of free throws followed by a jumper by Destiny Robinson to keep the deficit at 10.

Emaree Hinton added a jumper along with four points by Destiny Robinson as Barton started to pull away, 59-48.

The Bulldogs finished off the contest at the line for the victory.

Chowan has the week off for finals as the Hawks will return to the floor on Wednesday, December 15 to host Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas contest.  Tip-off is slated for 2pm.
