MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team picked up a dominant win over Erskine in a Conference Carolinas contest on Friday evening.

Destiny Robinson led the team with 14 points and eight rebounds. Brianna Copeland and Demetria Bland tallied 10 points each.
Chowan posted 30 points in the paint and 22 points off turnovers while shooting 43.1% from the floor.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Destiny Robinson opened the scoring in the contest with a layup. The Hawks defense started strong forcing a pair of shot clock violations. The Flying Fleet rallied to even the score at 3-all.
Aniah Patterson knocked down a pair of free throws to spark a run for the Hawks. Patterson knocked down a jumper followed by a Demetria Bland triple in transition to lead 10-3.
Erskine answered with a three-pointer and a layup to cut the score to 10-8 before Olivia Gaither connected from the floor. Emaree Hinton added a pair of free throws before Aniah Patterson picked up two points at the stripe to double up the Fleet, 16-8.
The Fleet knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer, 16-11.
Second Quarter:
Demetria Bland knocked down a triple and a jumper to start the quarter to lead 21-11. Monique Jones added a putback bucket before the Fleet chipped away at the double-digit deficit.
Kashara Simpson and Shequana Jackson added a pull up jumper to lead 28-16. After a Fleet free throw, Destiny Robinson posted a layup.
Erskine picked up the next four points at the stripe. The Fleet cut the deficit to 30-23 at the half.
Third Quarter:
Destiny Robinson started the half with an old-fashioned three-point play. Monique Jones posted a pair of layups. Aniah Patterson and Robinson added a pair of buckets in transition to lead 42-27.
Demetria Bland and Destiny Robinson knocked down a jumper to push their advantage to 47-32.
Destiny Robinson notched a putback before the buzzer to lead 49-32.
Fourth Quarter:
Shequana Jackson tallied a pair of baskets to start the quarter. Brianna Copeland connected from deep to push the lead to 56-36. Copeland added a jumper prior to Erskine connecting from the floor to cut the deficit to 61-40.
Jayah King-Johnson and Brianna Copeland added a bucket. Emaree Hinton tallied a four free throws to put the game away.
