SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team picked up their second consecutive sweep as the Hawks defeated Converse 3-0 in the Conference Carolinas Regular Season finale on Saturday afternoon.

Chowan recorded a season-high 11 service aces as Anamarie Colon-Calero posted five aces and Ciara Ortega served up four aces.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez led the Hawks with 11 kills, while Madison Hall posted 10 kills. Natalia Vega-Aponte recorded 19 digs to pace the Hawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Madison Hall put the Hawks on the board quickly with a pair of kills. Ciara Ortega snuck a kill in before Anixa Rosa-Martinez notched a kill and Natalia Vega-Aponte served up an ace. Chloe Putnam notched a kill to put the Hawks up 6-2.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Chloe Putnam added a kill each before Converse rallied to take a 12-8 lead. Madison Hall added a pair of kills and Ciara Ortega added a kill to close the gap to 12-11.
The Hawks would trail by one after a kill by Anixa Rosa-Martinez. Anamarie Colon-Calero added the next four points for the Hawks with a pair of kills and service aces to take the lead 17-16.
Anixa Rosa-Martinez continued the run with a kill before Anamarie Colon-Calero added another ace. Rosa-Martinez and Ciara Ortega notched an assisted block prior to a kill by Chloe Putnam, Rosa-Martinez, and Haydon Ahlers to lead 23-17.
A pair of miscues by the Valkyries gave the Hawks the opening set 25-19.
Second Set:
Ciara Ortega opened the set with a service ace before a kill by Anixa Rosa-Martinez. The Hawks would fight back from a deficit as Haydon Ahlers and Madison Hall closed the gap to 12-11.
Trailing 15-11, Nyah Powers and Anixa Rosa-Martinez teamed up for a block before Natalia Vega-Aponte added a service aces and a pair of kills by Rosa-Martinez evened the score at 16-all.
Converse would take a 22-18 lead before a service error sparked a run for the Hawks. Anamarie Colon-Calero started the run with a pair of kills. Ciara Ortega added three service aces before Nyah Powers finished off the set with a kill for the 25-22 victory.
Third Set:
Converse started the third set with a 5-2 lead as Anamarie Colon-Calero notched the first kill. Anixa Rosa-Martinez and Madison Hall posted a pair of kills as the Hawks trailed 10-6.
Madison Hall added another kill before Anixa Rosa-Martinez added a kill and Anamarie Colon-Calero posted back-to-back aces to trail 14-13.
Chloe Putnam posted a pair of kills along with a pair of kills by Haydon Ahlers put the Hawks in front 19-18. Madison Hall and Katie Houston notched a kill to lead 22-19.
Converse rallied to take a 23-22 lead before the Hawks finished off the sweep. Nyah Powers evened the score with a kill before Katie Houston put the Hawks up. Chloe Putnam and Anamarie Colon-Calero tallied an assisted block to finish off the match.

Chowan will take on Fayetteville State in non-conference action on Wednesday, November 10 on the road in the regular season finale.
