MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team was unable to overcome foul trouble as UNC Pembroke picked up the Conference Carolinas win on Tuesday evening, 64-54.

For the fourth straight game, Destiny Robinson registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Aniah Patterson led the team with 16 points. Olivia Gaither nearly notched a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Monique Jones added eight rebounds and four blocks. Aniah Patterson and Demetria Bland collected three steals each.
Chowan committed 29 fouls leading to 32 free throw attempts for the Braves. UNCP would go 23-32 from the stripe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Aniah Patterson started off the contest with a jumper followed by a three-pointer by Olivia Gaither to lead 5-3 early. Destiny Robinson picked up her first points of the contest from the stripe to score the next six points to lead 11-7.
Aniah Patterson knocked down a jumper and Demetria Bland connected from deep to lead 16-8. UNC Pembroke rallied back with a 7-2 run as Bland added a jumper to lead 18-15 at the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter:
UNC Pembroke went on a quick 5-0 run to lead 20-18. Destiny Robinson picked up a point at the stripe before Aniah Patterson connected from three and Shequana Jackson hit a layup to lead 24-23.
The lead would swap hands as Olivia Gaither scored on a putback and Keibra Hopkins scored a layup at the end of the half to lead 28-27 going into the locker room.
Third Quarter:
Destiny Robinson opened the scoring in the half with a layup followed by a jumper by Aniah Patterson and a three-pointer by Olivia Gaither to offset the buckets by the Braves to lead 35-32.
The Braves finished off the quarter on a 13-5 run to lead 45-40 after the third quarter. Olivia Gaither knocked down a jumper and Aniah Patterson hit a triple during the offensive stall.
Fourth Quarter:
Destiny Robinson scored a layup off an assist from Aniah Patterson to spark an 8-2 run to start the fourth quarter. Patterson hit a jumper before Robinson and Patterson posted layups to lead 48-47.
UNCP countered with a 6-0 run to regain the lead 53-48. Destiny Robinson ended the run with a jumper. Monique Jones added a putback layup and a pair of free throws.
The Braves would salt away the game at the charity stripe.

Chowan continues their home stand in the month of December as the Hawks host Erskine in Conference Carolinas action on Friday, December 3. Tip-off is slated for 5pm.
