BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team dropped a Conference Carolinas contest against Lees-McRae on the road on Saturday.

Ellie Middleton and Anixa Rosa-Martinez paced the Hawks with eight kills each. Middleton and Natalie Vega-Aponte registered 12 digs each.
Madison Hall added seven kills and Haydon Ahlers posted six kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
Ellie Middleton, Anixa Rosa-Martinez, and Madison Hall posted a kill to start the set. Nyah Powers and Rosa-Martinez registered a kill as both teams swapped points.
Haydon Ahlers and Ellie Middleton notched a kill to keep the set close, 14-13. Ahlers and Chloe Putnam added a kill before the end of the set.
LMC took the opening set 25-20.
Second Set:
The Bobcats opened the set on an 8-1 run before Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted the opening kill for the Hawks.
The lead would open up to 12-3 before Haydon Ahlers, Anixa Rosa-Martinez, and Ellie Middleton posted a point to close the gap to 15-10.
LMC finished off the set 25-16.
Third Set:
Haydon Ahlers and Madison Hall put the Hawks on the board in the third set with a kill each.
Chowan used a 5-0 run to take the lead 9-7 with a kill by Chloe Putnam and Ellie Middleton, a block by Chloe Putnam, Anixa Rosa-Martinez, and Nyah Powers, along with an ace by Rosa-Martinez.
The Hawks pushed the lead to 16-11 with a block by Chloe Putnam and Haydon Ahlers. LMC countered to even the score at 18-all.
Madison Hall notched a pair of kills as LMC took the match 25-23.
