BRISTOL, TENN. – The Chowan Volleyball team picked up a set against a tough King team in Conference Carolinas action on Friday evening.

Ellie Middleton led the Hawks' attack with nine kills. Middleton added 16 digs. Madison Hall posted eight kills, while Haydon Ahlers and Chloe Putnam notched five kills each.
Natalia Vega-Aponte recorded 29 digs, while Anixa Rosa-Martinez recorded 19 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set:
King jumped out to an early 9-2 lead before Anixa Rosa-Martinez posted the first kill for the Hawks. Chloe Putnam added a block. Ellie Middleton and Madison Hall posted a pair of kills to close the gap.
Ciara Ortega, Madison Hall, and Anixa Rosa-Martinez registered a kill to even the score at 19-all. Ellie Middleton posted back-to-back kills to knot the score at 22-all before King took the set 25-23.
Second Set:
Ciara Ortega and Anixa Rosa-Martinez registered a kill to start the set. Rosa-Martinez, Chloe Putnam, and Nyah Powers notched a kill to keep the score close.
King extended their lead despite Haydon Ahlers, Chloe Putnam, and Ellie Middleton recording a kill.
The Tornado finished off the set 25-15.
Third Set:
Chowan rallied back from a 7-2 deficit as Alexa Lyons registered a kill. Ellie Middleton posted a kill to even the score at 10-all.
Both teams swapped points as Haydon Ahlers, Madison Hall, and Alexa Lyons posted a kill each. Haydon Ahlers finished off the set with a kill to force a fourth set, 25-21.
Fourth Set:
The Hawks swapped points in the set with Alexa Lyons and Chloe Putnam registered a kill.
King went on a 15-1 run to end the set. Chloe Putnam and Anixa Rosa-Martinez teamed up for a block during the offensive stall.
