MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Esports program picked up two wins last week in Valorant action including an overtime clinching win against UNC Greensboro.
VALORANT ACTION
Bryce Shultz (dustee) would pick up two team MVP honors last week leading the team with 66 kills and 14 assists. Dorian May (Astral) totaled 62 kills and 17 assists. Michael Bannister (TensaiFly) recorded 47 kills and 18 assists. Caleb Maher (Patty) notched 27 kills and 17 assists, while Nathan Fisk (Arcturus) posted 26 kills and 17 assists.
In ECAC action, the Hawks took down Lycoming 2-0 with a pair of clean sweeps, 13-0. Bryce Shultz (dustee) paced the team with 37 kills and five assists. Dorian May (Astral) added 35 kills and 11 assists in the sweep.
On Wednesday, the Hawks battled back to force overtime against UNC Greensboro picking up the 15-13 victory. Bryce Shultz (dustee) led the team with 29 kills and nine assists. Dorian May (Astral) added 27 kills and six assists. Michael Bannister (TensaiFly) recorded 17 kills, while Caleb Maher (Patty) and Nathan Fisk (Arcturus) contributed 14 kills each.
ROCKET LEAGUE
Caleb Maher (Patty) led the Hawks during the week with eight goals, two assists and 26 saves. Sullivan Prince (Princey98) added three goals, four assists and 16 saves. Shane Price-Loyd (Ogsnowman71) tallied 16 saves and one assist.
UNC Greensboro defeated the Hawks 3-1 after dropping the opening game to the Hawks 4-2. The Spartans rallied to take the final three games: 7-1, 4-0, 3-0. Caleb Maher (Patty) started the match against UNC Greensboro with a hat-trick netting four goals in the 4-2 victory.
Kean would hand the Hawks a 3-1 loss in ECAC action on Tuesday. Kean opened the match with a 6-0 win before dropping the second game 2-1 as Caleb Maher (Patty) and Sullivan Prince (Princey98) scored in the 2-1 victory against Kean. Kean took the final two games 5-3 and 4-1 to seal the win.
Chowan finished off the week against East Carolina in MCEA action on Thursday. The Pirates would take the match 2-0, 5-0, 5-0.
UP NEXT
The Hawks have a big battle happening on Tuesday, October 12 as Chowan takes on the MCEA favored Winthrop Valorant team at 7pm. Chowan will also take on SUNY Canton in ECAC Valorant action at 8pm before the Hawks Rocket League team faces Winthrop in MCEA action at 9:30pm.
Chowan will face UL-Lafayette in ECAC Rocket League action on Wednesday before wrapping up the week against St. Andrews in Valorant and Rocket League in MCEA action.
