MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's Basketball team was unable to hold on to their slim halftime lead in an 80-69 loss to Emmanuel at home on Friday evening in Conference Carolinas action.

Jonathan McFall posted a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds. Jaylen Dilliard recorded 17 points on 8-10 shooting.
Jaedon Willis chipped in with 15 points and four assists, while Xavier Young scored 10 points off the bench.
Emmanuel outscored the Hawks 46-24 in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Emmanuel opened up the contest on a 6-0 run before Jaedon Willis hit a jumper to put the Hawks on the board. Jonathan McFall went 1-2 from the stripe prior to Jaylen Dilliard evening the score at 6-all with a three-pointer.
The Lions pushed out ahead 11-6 with a quick 5-0 spurt before an 11-2 run put the Hawks on top 17-13. Jaylen Dilliard and Jonathan McFall knocked down a pair of jumpers during the run. McFall added a triple to give the Hawks the four point advantage. Emmanuel answered with a three to cut the deficit to one, 17-16.
Jaedon Willis knocked down a trey along with a bucket by Tahkey Williams and Paul Whitby allowed the Hawks to lead 24-18. Emmanuel used a 7-0 run to regain the lead 25-24 before Jaylen Dilliard handed the lead back to the Hawks with a layup on the next possession.
Tied at 26-all, Jaedon Willis knocked down a trey from the wing along with a pair of free throws by Jamal Thomas to give the Hawks a 31-26 lead.
Jaylen Dilliard posted a bucket along with three free throws by Chowan allowed the Hawks to lead 36-34 at the end of the opening half.
Second Half:
Jaylen Dilliard kept the Hawks on top or tied in the early portion of the second half with a pair of jumpers. Jonathan McFall tallied a pair from the stripe to lead 42-40.
Emmanuel regained the lead with a quick 8-0 run before Tahkey Williams and Xavier Young knotted the game up with a pair of triples.
The Lions would gain control of the contest with a 25-5 run to push out in front 73-53. Jaedon Willis scored the five points for the Hawks during the offensive stall and force a Chowan timeout.
Out of the break, Jonathan McFall scored two quick buckets along with a three-pointer by Xavier Young, but was countered by the Lions, 78-60.
Chowan finished off the contest with a 9-2 run over the last three minutes of play. Jaylen Dillaird started the run with a layup off a back-door pass from Tahkey Williams. Xavier Young scored the next four points on back-to-back possessions. Jonathan McFall tacked on a three-pointer in the final seconds to draw the Hawks closer, 80-69.
