MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Swimming team put up quite a fight against No. 22 UNC Pembroke in a home meet on Friday afternoon with three pool records.

INSIDE THE LANES

Chowan picked up three pool records including two in the first two events of the afternoon.  The Chowan 400 Medley Relay posted a pool record of 4:40.85 along with Jersey Razzano in the 1500 Free and Ashley Mayes in the 100 Fly.

THE RESULTS

400 Medley Relay:

Ashley Mayes, Zorey Sargent, Jasmine Gibson, and Grace Arredondo swam the Hawks to a first place finish and a pool record in the event with a time of 4:40.85.  The Hawks out-touched the Braves by over a second.

1500 Free:

Jersey Razzano continued the momentum with a pool record of 18:46.14 for a first place finish.  Razzano's progression would break the school record by the end of the season.

200 Free:

Brinna Houlahan (2:26.56), Atar Idriss (2:28.95), and Marissa Mann (2:34.89) finished third through fifth in the event.

50 Free:

Zorey Sargent improved on her personal best time at home with a time of 28.35 to finish second overall.  Jeleah Delancy posted a personal best time at home with a time of 29.38 with Jasmine Gibson coming in at 29.40 for fourth and fifth respectively.

200 IM:

Erin Garza picked up a fourth place finish with a time of 2:50.93.  Vivian Lyle placed fifth in the event.

100 Fly:

Ashley Mayes finished first in the event with a pool record 1:03.71 pacing the field by two seconds.  Marissa Mann and Erin Garza finished fifth and sixth overall.

100 Breast:

Zorey Sargent picked up a second place finish with a time of 1:20.85 to slide into third overall in the event at home among Chowan swimmers.

100 Back:

Atar Idrissi finished third in the event with a time of 1:18.16.

400 Free:

Jersey Razzano finished second overall in the event with the second best time among Chowan swimmers with a time of 4:50.35.  Razzano posted a 34.77 in the final 50 meters to close the gap.

100 Free:

Grace Arredondo finished third overall in the event with a time of 1:02.42.  Brinna Houlahan finished fifth clocking a time of 1:05.97.

200 Free Relay:

Grace Arredondo, Jasmine Gibsonn, Jersey Razzano, and Ashley Mayes touched the wall second in the event with a time of 1:54.33.

Brinna Houlahan, Atar Idrissi, Erin Garza, and Jeleah Delancy finished fourth with a time of 2:03.21.

UP NEXT

Chowan is scheduled to host Barton on Saturday, February 6 at 1pm.  Both men and women will be in action against the Bulldogs.
