MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – For the third straight game, the Chowan Men's Basketball team trailed by double-digits early as Mount Olive cruised to an 82-65 victory in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening.

Chowan trailed 25-3 early before cutting the deficit to 35-22 at the half.
Jonathan McFall led the Hawks with 14 points and six assists. Jaedon Willis chipped in with 10 points. Calvin Ahoume produced a spark off the bench with seven rebounds.
The Hawks would shoot 58.3% in the second half, but Mount Olive countered with 68.2%.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half:
Mount Olive opened up on a 9-0 run forcing a Chowan timeout. The run continued as the Trojans led 16-0 heading into the media timeout.
Calvin Ahoume scored the first point for the Hawks at the 14:00 mark going 1-2 from the stripe. Ahoume added two more from the stripe as UMO led 25-3.
At the 10:39 mark, Tahkey Williams broke the seal on the goal with a three-point play to spark a small run. Williams added a bucket along with a point by Jaylen Dilliard and a layup by Jaedon Willis to cut the deficit to 25-11 at the under-eight media.
Jaedon Willis continued the run with a three-pointer out of the timeout. Jaylen Dilliard added a pair from the stripe to cut the deficit to single-digits, 25-16. UMO tallied a bucket but Jonathan McFall answered with a layup.
Mount Olive pushed their lead back to double-digits as Jonathan McFall posted two buckets before the end of the half to trail 35-22.
Second Half:
Both teams traded buckets early in the half as Elijah Hill scored four quick points along with a trey by Jaylen Dilliard. UMO answered with 11 points during the trade-off. Tahkey Williams and Jonathan McFall picked up a bucket each to keep the deficit at 13, 46-33.
Elijah Hill knocked down a triple but the Trojans would answer at the other end with a four-point play. Jamal Thomas connected from deep to continue the hot shooting for the Hawks. Jonathan McFall added a pair from the stripe to cut the deficit to single-digits, 50-41, with 14:09 remaining.
Mount Olive pushed their lead back to double figures with a 13-0 run over the next five minutes. Jaedon Willis knocked down a triple to slow the run. Jonathan McFall added a pair from the stripe as UMO pushed their lead to 69-44 with seven minutes remaining.
Xavier Young converted the three-point play and knocked down a triple. Jonathan McFall added a layup and the free throw to cut the deficit to 71-55 with 5:02 remaining. Jamal Thomas added a layup before the Trojans posted a bucket. Young tacked on a pair from the stripe with 3:34 remaining.
The Trojans went on a 5-0 run before Elijah Hill connected from the floor on a jumper. Jaedon Willis knocked down a pair from the stripe offsetting the two from the Trojans. Paul Whitby hit a jumper for the final bucket of the contest.
