Hawks Swimming Continues To Improve In Early Season Tests

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Chowan Women's Swimming Team picked up the win over Catawba, while the Chowan Men's Swimming Team fell short against Catawba in a road dual meet on Saturday afternoon.

RESULTS

HOW IT HAPPENED

200 Medley Relay:

The relay of Andrew Simmons, Marshall Stevens, Justin Lough, and Igor Proszynski posted the top time of 1:49.77 for the men.

The women would finish second with a time of 2:08.79 as Atar Idrissi, MacKenzie Lucy, Erin Garza, and Brinna Houlahan comprised of the relay.

1000 Free:

Atar Idrissi touched the wall second with a time of 13:14.69.  Shaine Olmstead would finish third for the men posting a time of 11:15.95.

200 Free:

Jersey Razzano notched the seventh best time in program history with a first place finish in the event with a time of 2:06.30.  Jasmine Gibson finished second (2:10.06), while Jeleah Delancy finished fourth (2:25.86).

Igor Proszynski (1:52.23) and Andrew Simmons (2:02.30) finished second and fourth respectively.

50 Free:

Ashley Mayes posted the sixth best time in program history by touching the wall at 25.68 to finish first.  Grace Arredondo (26.49) and Brinna Houlahan (27.92) finished third and fourth respectively.

James Cameron (22.66), David Clark (22.86), and Marshall Stevens (23.68) finished second through fourth.

200 IM:

Zorey Sargent finished third in the event with a time of 2:25.30.  Erin Garza finished fourth.

Lucas Pels and Tristan Stinson finished second and third in the event.

100 Fly:

Brinna Houlahan improved on her personal best with a time of 1:09.19 to finish second.  Erin Garza finished third with a time of 1:16.58.

100 Free:

Ashley Mayes swam to a sixth best time in program history after another first place finish with a time of 56.35.  Grace Arredondo (57.64) and Jasmine Gibson (59.68) finished third and fourth.

James Cameron (50.74), Justin Lough (52.12), and Andrew Simmons (54.05) posted second through fourth place finishes.

100 Back:

Zorey Sargent notched a time of 1:08.03 for a second place finish and an eighth best time in program history.

Tristan Stinson picked up the first place finish with a time of 1:16.96.

500 Free:

Jersey Razzano improved on her personal best by five seconds picking up the first place finish with a time of 5:33.04.

Igor Proszynski (5:02.36) finished second, while David Clark posted the sixth best time in program history with a third place finish touching the wall at 5:19.05.  Shaine Olmstead finished fourth.

100 Breast:

Zorey Sargent took home the first place finish out-touching her opponent with a time of 1:13.38.  MacKenzie Lucy (1:18.58) and Jeleah Delancy (1:21.97) finished third and fourth.

Marshall Stevens finished second with a time of 1:03.46, while Lucas Pels (1:04.64) and Kyle Sheridan (1:15.87) finished third and fourth.

200 Free Relay:

The women picked up a first place finish with a time of 1:45.46.  Ashley Mayes, Jersey Razzano, Jasmine Gibson, and Grace Arredondo posted the time for the Hawks.

James Cameron, Shaine Olmstead, Lucas Pels, and David Clark posted a second place finish with a time of 1:33.01 falling behind by .53.

UP NEXT

Chowan will host UNC Pembroke on Friday, January 29 at 1pm.  The women will compete while the men have off until February 6.
